Associates at Rust-Oleum’s corporate office in Vernon Hills, Ill., are enjoying a hand-painted, 250-square-foot mural that celebrates the company’s 100-year anniversary. The piece, created by Rust-Oleum graphic artist Kevin Senft, is displayed on a concrete wall near the main parking lot.
The bold, brightly colored mural features figures such as an octopus, peacock and astronaut that represent the company’s past, present and future in a decidedly artistic way. Designed for internal use, Senft had the freedom to think outside the box when it came to the design.
Inspired by Rust-Oleum’s vintage advertisements, Senft used bold typography and bright illustrations. He incorporated some of the company’s most iconic and recognizable accomplishments throughout the years, while also keeping a futuristic edge to showcase continuous innovation. The painting is a one-of-a-kind depiction of the centennial milestone.
Senft, the graphic artist behind the mural, graduated from The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, earning a bachelor’s degree in fine arts with an emphasis in graphic design. He just recently celebrated his five-year anniversary with Rust-Oleum.
